Website Work: A Productive Morning
Today started off pretty fulfilling as I dove into some website work. With the temperature steadily dropping, focusing on something productive indoors seemed like a good idea. I had a few updates to make on the site, and I was excited to see how it would all come together. There's just something incredibly satisfying about seeing a project flourish on the internet, especially when it’s something you’ve poured time into.
Chopping Firewood: A Necessity for the Chilly Evenings
Once I wrapped up my digital tasks, it was time to brave the cool air outside and cut firewood for my Lopi wood-burning stove. Living without central heat and air means that I rely heavily on my wood stove during the chilly nights—it was getting close to freezing after all! I gathered fallen logs and branches from my yard, which turned out to be an excellent source for firewood.
The rhythmic sound of the axe striking the wood reminded me of simpler times. As I worked, the crisp air invigorated my senses and kept me motivated. Each cut brought me one step closer to a cozy fire to warm up my living space for the night.
Preparing for the Porch: Smaller Firewood for the Solo Stove
As I started wrapping up the larger pieces, I realized that I also needed some smaller firewood for my Solo Stove knockoff. The plan is to enjoy some warm evenings on the front porch, and with my order from Amazon arriving tomorrow, I wanted to be prepared ahead of time. There’s nothing like sipping a warm drink around a fire, especially when the stars light up the clear cold sky.
So, I shifted gears and made sure to cut down smaller kindling that would catch fire easily. It’s funny how often we overlook the little things and focus only on what seems urgent. But having the right size and type of wood for each stove makes all the difference. I remember last winter where I had to make last-minute runs to find just the right wood! I learned my lesson and making a plan this time around felt great.
With the wood stacked and ready to go, I felt accomplished with my day. There’s a kind of peace in working with your hands, especially when the end result is something that truly enhances your evenings at home. As I settle in for another chilly night, I can look forward to cozy fires and the comfort of knowing I’m ready for whatever lie ahead.
